Harness the Power of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
What is Peer-to-Peer Fundraising?
A method of fundraising that leverages your supporters to fundraise on your behalf. It allows them to create a personal or team fundraising page to contribute and engage with the cause in their own way. It may also be referred to as social fundraising, personal/team fundraising, or p2p fundraising.
What are the Advantages?
Builds Upon Existing Relationships
It is a great way to engage and empower your base. By including them directly in the fundraising process, they become an advocate and representative for your cause. This results in the added value of stories, with each fundraiser individualizing the cause, putting a face to it, and explaining why it matters to them.
Multiplies Impact of Limited Resources
This method helps to activate your supporters, by having them reach out to their own network to support the cause. Supporters fundraising pages become a platform for them to express their story, in their own words, and be more willing to share the message with their peers. The individual investment provides a personal desire to help the campaign succeed.
Grows Awareness Organically
These campaigns help to increase awareness of your brand. With the right peer-to-peer approach, you can establish your organization's branding across the campaign, fundraising pages, and trust between your organization and potential supporters. People are more likely to donate to a cause their friend or family strongly supports, especially if they are actively participating in some form of race or challenge.
What Types of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising?
Many campaigns fall under 'Rolling Campaigns' or 'Time-Based Campaigns'.
Rolling, or year-round campaigns revolve around your supporters and the events in which they choose to take an opportunity to fundraise. This may include a birthday, holiday, wedding, athletic endeavour, or any occasion they see fit. By adding this option as a permanent function on your website, it allows your fundraising community to take action on your behalf, without being constrained by your organizations events or campaigns.
Time-based take place within a specific timeframe, generally 6-8 weeks and fixed around a theme or activity. With limited time to reach a fundraising goal, the campaign requires a proactive marketing strategy to spread the word and rally around the individuals campaign.
There is also Team Fundraising, which encourages supporters to fundraise as a team. Each member makes a personal page, with the results being combined on a team page. This encourages a little competitiveness between individuals and teams, while also providing support and encouragement to team mates.
One can also do Offline Events when hosting an event, by setting up a registration combined with fundraising. In addition to or in replace of a registration fee, you can ask participants to create a fundraising page online to raise a set amount to gain entrance into the event. It generates excitement leading up to the event, and your supporters become personally invested in the success of it.

Are Online Raffles Peer-to-Peer Fundraising?
In a way, yes!
Our platform allows for leagues to obtain a raffle license and provide teams with unique fundraising links. The teams work to raise funds for themselves, while contributing to the league jackpot. This platform also showcases a leaderboard, adding a competitive edge.
When it comes to a standard 50/50 raffle; people may champion your cause because they are a supporter, or they may just want to see a bigger prize. Either way, it results in more donations for your cause.
